16th January 2017: PHP Tales of a Front-End Developer

Happy New Year Everyone!

I hope you’ve all survived the excesses of the festive season, and recovered from the shock of your first week back at work. While we weren’t looking, two Mondays have already slipped past us this month, so it’s less than a week until our first meetup of 2017.

On Monday 16th January, we’ll be welcoming Jeremy Keith of Clearleft to tell us his Tales of PHP – and, hopefully welcoming you! Join us there, 7PM at the Student Room Group next to Brighton station; and meanwhile, spread the word, and let us know you’re coming, on Facebook, or on Lanyrd.

Jeremy Keith: PHP Tales of a Front-End Developer

Hacking around with PHP—tales of using PHP from someone who isn’t a back-end developer.

Jeremy Keith is a front-end web developer, author, and co-founder of the design agency Clearleft here in Brighton. He’s also spoken at more conferences than I’ve had Christmas dinners, so it’s sure to be a treat.

What’s Coming Up?

We’re hard at work lining up more great speakers for 2017, and we’d like your help! What topics would you like to hear about? Have you seen a great speaker somewhere else you’d love to hear talk again – or missed them and want a second chance? Or maybe you could be our next speaker – did you spend your Christmas hiding from relatives learning some great new technology? Has the new year seen the release of your proudest project? Why not come and talk about it for 20 minutes to a bunch of like-minded geeks? Drop us an e-mail, and we’ll put you in the calendar.

Elsewhere, the PHP South Coast conference is back and bigger than ever! Now taking place over two days, this is the third year of this conference over in Portsmouth, and “blind bird” tickets are on sale now for just £90. Watch this space for further details, or dive in for what’s surely great value.

As ever, we really are keen to hear your feedback; e-mail feedback@brightonphp.org with any ideas you have. We hope to see you all next Monday!
